Suggest Cause For Excessive Sweating Post Open Heart Surgery

I have just had open heart surgery (by pass and valve replacement). I mainly agreed to this operation due to the excessive hot sweats I was having and the consultant informed me this would help. However, after just two weeks, the sweats have returned and I feel like I am permanently in the shower. I am 82 yrs old. Is this normal? Will they fade away? Is there anything I can do to help the situation?
