Endocrinologist 's  Response
Hello,

Graves' disease is an autoimmune disease, that means your body produces some antibodies that stimulate the thyroid gland to produce more hormones causing hyperthyroidism or overactive thyroid.

Usually, a stressful situation is the trigger factor. It needs treatment for 12-18 months.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Mirjeta Guni, Endocrinologist
