Suggest An Alternative Of Simvastatin

I too take simvastatin and have had an increase in groin, hip, thigh, and even knee pain over the past few months. I also take Toprol XL and a very low dose of citalopram (5mg) to help with anxiety. The pain in my groin etc comes and goes,; some days not too bad, at other times very sharp pains. Is there another drug that I could take for my cholesterol? I m male, 61, 6 4 tall, 220 lbs and work out every day. Thanks , Bob

Thanks for your question on Healthcare Magic.
I can understand your concern.
Yes, you can take rosuvastatin.
Simvastatin is one of the oldest lipid lowering drug. It can have side effects like myositis, myopathy etc.
So your all symptoms are mostly due to Simvastatin induced muscle damage.
So better stop Simvastatin and start rosuvastatin.
Rosuvastatin is newest statin with lowest muscular side effects with the high therapeutic effects.
Since it is prescribed drug, you will need doctor's prescription.
Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wish you good health. Thanks.
