Suggest An Alternative Of Divalproex Sodium

HI I want to know if there is any medication that can be a substitution for divalproex sodium dr 500mg(if the patient has mild Parkinson and currently had implantable defibrillator device as a result of irregular heart rate(fibrillation)? I am asking this question for a family member, the cardiologist prescribed two medications Amiodarone (to treat arrhythmia) & Eliquis which interact with divalproex. Since taking this medication is crucial before I make appointment with the psychiatrist who prescribed divalproex, I seek for opinions. Any help is much appreciated. Thank you so much for your efforts and considerations.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

If you are using Divalproex for mood stabilization for bipolar disorder, then there are many other similar options including Lithium, Tegretol and Seroquel . Your psychiatrist will know which one would work best for you.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
