Suggest An Alternative Medicine For A Rash On My Scalp

I have a rash that started out on my scalp, went to behind my ears, traveled along the base of my jawline and now covers my face. I recently had two molars pulled that were infected. I have finished my antibiotic but I know there is still infection, i can feel it... what do i do?

Hello,

I can understand your concern. It would have been better if you had mentioned which antibiotic you were given after extraction of teeth and why do you feel that you still have infection in the extraction area.

However, the rash you are experiencing might be the allergic reaction to the antibiotic you were given. You should antihistamine such as Levocetrizine 5 mg (Levocet) or Loratidine 10 mg (Lorfast) once a day for 5 days. If it would be an allergic reaction, it would subside by this medicine. If it does not subside, then there is a possibility of viral infection that may take 7-10 days to recover.

In addition, if you are having doubts regarding the healing process of the extraction socket or you feel that infection persists, then you should make a follow up appointment with the dentist to assess the healing process and if infection is present, antibiotics can be prescribed.

I hope this information helps you. Thank you for choosing HealthcareMagic. I wish you feel better soon.

Best,
Dr. Viraj Shah
