Suggest An Alternative For Foxomax Taken For Weak Bones

My Dr. said that my bones are very weak. I have had three fractures in the last 4 months. Had two very hard falls. I am a 68 yr old woman . He prscribed Foxomax. Everything I have read about this drug scares me. I also have chronic Lyme disease, fibromyalgia and copd.I aam also allergic to many drugs, alot of antibiotics and many drugs. Also food allergies. Is there any other alternatives to this drug that may be helpful and has less side effects.

hello there!
Thank you for asking i read your concern about the fosamax and i want you to know that these are bisphosphonate derivatives and they help increase calcium uptake which you need the most. and sure they ave side effects but they can be controlled with the way it is taken. i will give you some tips.

Take only in morning, not at bedtime or before arising

Take tablet with full glass of water (6-8 oz) at least 30 minutes before first food or drink of day, in upright position

Swallow with plain water only; coffee or juice severely reduces bioavailability

Swallow tablet whole; do not suck or chew

Do not lie down for 30 minutes after taking drug; sit or stand upright

If dietary intake is inadequate, you should receive calcium supplement and vitamin D

I strongly recommend to continue the same class of drug, you can chnge the brand though by consulting your doctor. but bisphosphonates are your only option i believe here suitable for your needs
