Suggest A Treatment For The Pain In Ankle And Knee

I injured my right ankle 5 months ago and also sprained my left knee which I have osteoarthritis in. Got an MRI of the ankle and have an ocd of the medial talar dome. I was in a CAM boot and partial weight bearing with crutches. Went to orthopedic foot and ankle surgeon an he put me in a short leg walking cast. He said I could drop down to one crutch and when I feel steady enough none. I am in the cast for 6 weeks. My ankle still has pain but now the left knee catches and hurts deep in the joint. I don t feel stable enough to go crutchless, especially when the knee on my good leg is acting up now. Any advice?

Orthopaedic Surgeon, Joint Replacement 's  Response
I think you need to look for surgical option of the ankle. I think that osteochondral fragment is becoming a loose body and it is causing instablity in the ankle. Other cause can be a ligament injury, which are necessary for ankle stability
I would suggest you to get a ankle MRI again and if there is osteochondral fragment is present then it will need arthroscopy surgery to remove this fragment. If there is any ligament damage then it will need surgery to reconstruct or repair that ligament.
