Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..
I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..
As per your complain in case if your son is experiencing
Dry mouth leading to
bad breath, it is commonly seen in Smokers as the smoke leads to
dehydration of the mucosal surfaces and although he stopped
smoking now, but since he has been a heavy smoker since years the symptoms will not subside all of the sudden if he stop smoking..
He should completely stop smoking and start chewing sugar free chewing gum and suck tart candies as they help in stimulating saliva flow..
He should gargle with specialized mouthwash suitable for Dry mouth patients like
Biotene..
He can also use artificial salivary drops..
Drink plenty of water..
In case if still there is no improvement consult an Oral Physician and get evaluated..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards.
