General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
your mother is certainly diabetic on has been put on treatment. Treatment of diabetes, confirmed with high levels as she presented shall be taken for a lifetime. A strict follow up of physician s prescription shall be needed for her to maintain her blood sugar levels within normal levels to avert complications such as heart, nervous, eye and kidney complications. It shall be great if you motivate her to take her drugs regularly as prescribes by your family physician, respect the diet prescribed and do her routine control blood tests as prescribed, It could be advisable for you to screen her for hypertension since these diseases usually go together.
Stopping treatment now because the blood sugar reduced is not an option to think of. Manipulation, changes in the dosages and drug types in her management most always be changed by her physician.
Thanks and stay good,
Luchuo, MD.

Internal Medicine Specialist Dr. Akhilesh Dubey's  Response
Hi,
Welcome to HCM,
Your mother is diagnosed Diabetes type II ,Please understand for diabetes you have to follow diet restriction and medicines are to be taken continuously may be life long. Dose of drugs may be changed according to level of blood sugar and please monitor sugar by FBS and PPBS and your doctor may ask HBA1c once in three months to monitor diabetes.
At present there is no such therapy which can cure diabetes permanently so please follow treatment regularly and have healthy life style.
Your doctor is absolutely right in saying please continue treatment life long.
Please take care.
Good Luck
