Sugar Levels Are Above Normal, Taking Gluconorm. Should I Change Medication?
I am a diabetic type 2 and BP, which us under contreol. I take Gluconorm 500 mg twice, but at times my sugar levels are above normal range. I am taking these medicines for the last six years. The H1AiBC1 is 7.2%/.Do I need to change the medicines or dosage
HbA1c of more than 7 % indicates poor control of blood sugar. Metformin alone may not be enough in this stage. I would advice my patient to increase the dosage of metformin as 500 mg twice a day. Add sulfonylurea group of oral hypoglycemic drug like glimipride. This will stimulate the secretion of insulin and control the blood sugar. To know the effect repeat the HbA1c after 3 months.
