Suffering from upper left arm pain. Possible reason?

Hi I am suffering from upper left arm pain, feels like I have been kicked, keeping me awake at night. I am a 66 year old active female. Slightly over anxious as a relative had similar symptoms just over a year ago, and was told it was probably frozen shoulder , but turned out to be caused by secondary cancer ( he had undiagnosed kidney cancer ( he died a few months later. Sorry, not usually the anxious type, have survived 11 knee ops and have chronic pain , so used to getting on with my life usually! Thanks.

If you generally feel well and are active then this is more likely to be a muscular or joint problem than anything more serious. You may have twisted your shoulder without noticing. It would be worth seeing how it progresses over the next few days and if it hasn't improved then a visit to your doctor may reassure you. Your doctor will then be able to carry our an examination and tests as appropriate. To help with any pain, you could take paracetamol and/or ibuprofen.
