Suffering From Sleeplessness. Feeling Tired And Less Enthusiastic. Do I Need Any Treatment?

Hi. I am suffering from sleeplessness since 6 months. I have difficulty falling asleep and generally I need to watch TV or read to feel sleepy. Also, my sleep is not continuous and I often wake up 3-4 times every night. I do not sleep in the noon since I am working. When I wake up in the morning, I am often very tired and less enthusiastic towards doing any activity. Whereas, I am pretty fresh late in the nights. I am 29 years old, unmarried, and have a very sedentary lifestyle . I weigh around 76 kgs. Do I need some kind of therapy so as to be able to sleep well and be more active in general? I feel this lack of sleep is now affecting me - generally reduced interest, social disinterest and lack of planning or working towards any specific aims... I have also started becoming negative in general and procrastinating important things.

Hello
Welcome to HCM
You are suffering from a condition called insomnia . In the today's hi-tech life due to increased attachments with electronic gadgets and our busy work schedules we were unable to spend the time properly for sleep . Normally sleep cycle is maintained by our brain through various hormones mainly melatonin. Habituation of TV watching and spending time Infront of computers disturbs the normal rhythm of the sleep cycles and affects the release of melatonin hormone. That's why you are facing this problem.

I advise you to stop watching tv after 10pm strictly go to bed before 11 pm , and practise daily yoga and meditation every evening ....try this definitely works
If you still don't satisfy with this ..consult a psychiatrist he will guide you the rest..
Thank you bye

Hello itsdeejay
Welcome to HCM

You are having sleeplessness since last 6 months, its both early and middle insomnia. You are not able to sleep as well as have multiple awakening in night. Lack of sleep is causing reduced interest, poor sociality, low mood, demotivation, tiredness in you. So there is really a problem and you have to get out of this.

-First is to improve sleep hygiene. Sleep hygiene means; fix your time to sleep, use bed only for sleeping and don't read on bed, don't watch TV on bed, have proper meals, bath with lukewarm water in evening will help, try not to think about getting sleep, do light exercise in evening.
- Change your life style, go for morning walk as you have a sedentary lifestyle.
- If no improvement with these visit a psychiatrist, many good medicines are available which will correct your sleep pattern till you get sleep by own.

Hope I solved your query.

dear friend .

thanks for sharing your concern.

after reading your complete history i would say you are suffering partially from insomnia.that is lack of sleep.there could be many reasons for that like stress, overwork resulting in overtiring, any habits,or sometimes any pathology underlying.

i would suggest you to visit your physcian once and get yourself examined. your history suggests that all your problem is due to lack of sleep only.nothing grave.but its good to get yourself examined once for any sleep disorders,or any organic basis for that. thanks
