Suffering from sleep disorder, unable to concentrate at work. Taking alzolam, valium. Cure?

I am suffering from sleep disorder since last 15 days or more. Initially I used to take Valium .05, now I take Alzolam tablets. Even taking 2 tablets at bedtime, I cannot sleep well, and get up after one or two hours after intake, and then I have to take another tablet. Next day, because of sleep loss, I cannot work. What can I do?

Hi There, Thanks for asking. It is chronic insomnia probably which you are suffering. First of all you should have a good sleep hygiene. It means you should have a regular sleep hours even in the weekends. You should have regular exercise and also not taking more than 300 mg caffeine a day. You should not watch TV in 3 hours before going to bed. You should not be dependent on sleep aid because your brain finds tolerance to those medications. The medications you mentioned have a long half life so they remain in you brain during the day and provide for you lack of concentration. You may take advantage of some behaviors like Yuga and relaxation technics to decrease your anxiety level during the day. Let me know if you have any question. take care

Dear Hi,

First of all if u want to correct the problem correct the source of problem.In ur case does sleep disturbance is associated with anger outburst feeling low..... episodes of palpitation.... feeling lonely etc. Remember all this or like this symptoms point towards mild to mod depressivd disorder so if u think correct try for antidepressant rather than taking sleeping bdz.

First of all try to correct your daily routine and maintain sleep hygiene befor going to bed.
In daily routin please fix up your time table for whole day until going to bed, and in this schedule :
1. wake up early,
2. Excercise daily at least 1-2 hour(Gym. Yoga and Pranayama),
3.Add green vege./leafy & salad and fruit for digestive system comfort in Meal.
4.Before going to bed do the Yoga Nidra Parctice, it balance mind thought process and relax whole body accordingly.

Note: Slowly reduce the medicine under guidance orf your physician and do daily workout gym/yoga and Yoga nidra & meditation under the qualified Fitness/Yoga Practioner.
