Hi,
Welcome to HCM,
You are having high blood pressure and Over weight and taking treatment for hypertension, I presume your Blood pressure is reasonable control.
In such case if routine EKG is being done, I do not know what she meant by shadow but may be your EKG may be abnormal which could be effect of High blood pressure on heart which shows in the changes as Hypertrophy, or there are subtle changes which could point out in adequate blood supply to heart.
In both the cases opinion of cardiologist would be useful for you.
I am glad to learn that you do not smoke and please keep trying for reducing those extra pounds.
Hope nothing serious is there and you continue to have good health.
Please take care of yourself.
Good Luck.

Hello,

Thanks for your query.

Your description is not clear as EKG is electronic record of Heart activity shown in patterns of waves. It dose not show any shadow, it may be chest X-ray which shows shadows.

You are having High blood pressure and over weight so you are at high risk of developing heart diseases as your heart has to work more than normal to cope with higher pressures.

You are advised to take Blood pressure Drugs regularly and modify your life style by diet control and exercise.

You should visit cardiologist to evaluate Cardiac health and he may advise labs like cholestrol level,EKG,Chest X-ray and Echocardiography.

Hope it helps

Take Care!

Hi and thanks for the query,
Is but normal in the normal follow up of a hypertensive patient to carry out an electrocardiogramme. Seeing a shadow means certainly there is certainly an image or something requiring a clarification by the cardiologist. This usually requires confrontation with other clinical and paraclinical examinations. Blood tests for kidney functions and blood electrolytes and a chest X ray. I suggest you take an appointment with the cardiologist for a proper clinical and paraclinical evaluation and management.
Thanks and best regards,
Luchuo, MD.
