Suffering From Goiter, What Treatment Should Be Done To Reduce The Swelling?

Hi, My wife has goitre in the neck, she has done all the required tests and everything is normal. But not able to decide what treatment should be done to reduce the swelling. some have advised iodine treatment, but her thyroid tests have come normal. Not sure if i should consider it for the fear of side effects.

Hello,
The first thing to do is to do an ultrasound and to check if there are nodules in goiter. If so, we may need FNAC and then decide.
If no nodules, no need to do anything if it is not cosmetically disturbing or if she has no symptoms like change in voice, difficulty breathing, difficulty in swallowing food or rapid increase in goiter size.
Meet an endocrinologist. He will examine and decide the further course of action
