Suffering From Blepharitis And Dry Eye, Uneven Film Over The Pupil. Tried Blood Serum Eye Drops. Cure?
Hello, I have had blepharitis and dry eye for 20 years, and it s getting worse. Lately, I ve developed an uneven film over part of my pupil, and I can see patches of eyeball that don t have any film on them. I ve tried every drop, and I wash with baby shampoo, Occuwipes, baking soda , TGel shampoo. I ve even tried blood serum eye drops. Nothing works. In your experience, has anyone with dry eye/blepharitis ever recovered to the extent that the unremitting pain of this condition has significantly lessened? Or can I expect another 20-30 years of it? Thank you.

hi... dry eye can be quite troublesome but congratulations that u have kept trying. right now the matter of concern is the film that u say has developed over pupil. it may b a corneal ulcer. u should consult an eye specialist as soon as possible.
till then u can use : moxifloxacin eye drops 6 times/day, occupol eye ointment three times a day inside the eyes and over your lashline , refresh tears eye drops 1 hourly, lacrigel eye ointments three times a day, dry hot fomentation 3-4 times and lid scrub taking care that shampoo does not enter into ur eyes.

It does make sense to get the eye examined by a cornea and external diseases specialist so as to know the extent of ocular involvement. If the cornea is fine, then further treatment of severe dry eyes can be tried in the form of either cyclosporine eye drops or even temporary punctal plugs ( as they help to improve the tear film).

a course of doxycycline 100mg bd for 20 days cyclosporine eye drops lacrigel eye oint hs and optive eye drops 2 hrly for long term may give u some relief in my opinion .
