Suffering From IBD Pancolitis, On Mesacol OD. Is It Curable?

Sir, I am suffering from IBD Pancolitis severe since last two years. I have been advised Mesacol OD 1.2 Gm thrice daily, two at morning and one at evening after meal. Sir firstly is it curable, secondly now I am suffering from said disease from last fifteen days that is 4 to 5 times bowl disorder with heavy amount of blood even some times only blood with certain lower abdominal pain . Please advise.

The exact cause of IBD pancolitis is not known.
Mesacol OD and other medications only keep the symptoms under control and they do not cure the disease.
The only permanent solution for ulcerative pancolitis is total colectomy. It is the surgery in which the entire colon is removed.
Ulcerative colitis affects only the colon in the gastrointestinal tract. By removing the colon, the symptoms like bloody diarrhea and abdominal pain may resolve.
