I have a husband with graves disease that had gone misdiagnosed for years and has had plenty of time to affect his brain , he also has a severe addiction to the drug methamphetamine and over the past six weeks or so his behavior has changed in a drastic way and he is on a direct path to death I fear, is there any medical information you can give me reguarding the effects it can have on a brain to have both graves disease and meth addiction??

Psychiatrist 's  Response
Hi there ~

I understand your concerns. I strongly recommend that you undergo treatment for methamphetamine drug dependence. This is likely to improve you overall general health condition while you also deal with your graves disease. I also believe that a consultation with a psychiatrist would be necessary at this point so as for you to find the right medications and help with referrals to the appropriate specialists. I also believe that graves disease and meth addiction can have effects on the brain, which you can discuss in your psychiatric consultation with your doctor.

I hope this helps. Take care and have a lovely day!
