Suffering From Anxiety, Prescribed Marijuana. Reason For Marijuana Causing Swollen Face?
Hi, I have been a patient prescribed medical marijuana for almost three years now, it is for anxiety but I a am a runner, cyclist and practice yoga 6X a week and i am 5 5 around 135lbs, female. I do have issues with salt/water retention.... But my question is what are the causes or reasons that marijuana causes a puffy/swollen face? Thank you!

As you are using medical marijuana for three years, then before suspecting marijuana, you should think for common physical causes of puffy/swollen face like:
-Hormonal imbalance: thyroid and glucocorticoids.
-Disturbance in liver and kidney function
-Protein deficiency
-Recent weight gain

Thanks for your query. On going through your symptom profile, considering your 3 year side-effect free intake of medical marijuana, it appears unlikely to be the cause of facial oedema. The most common causes of a puffy face would be renal/kidney problems and other causes include liver diseases, malnutrition and thyroid disorder. Kindly undergo thorough evaluation of above from a general medicine specialist. Wish you early recovery.
