Suffered from ankle fracture, wore waking boots. Tingling sensation in whole leg while running. Reason ?

I suffered an ankle fracture resulting from running in September. I wore a walking boot for 6 weeks and I believed my ankle was better. I recently started running again. Yesterday I only ran 2 miles, however, later that day I felt a tingling sensation all up my leg that lasted all night. This morning my ankle is sore. What does the tingling mean? Thanks, Kris

Radiologist 's  Response
Hi, welcome to HCM.
Pain and tingling after running may be due to incomplete healing of ankle injury. You must Consult your physician For confirmation of healing. It may need physical examination and if required few examinations like xray.
Don't put extra weight on foot until complete healing. It may damage your foot.

Hope I have answered your query.

Orthopaedic Surgeon Dr. Vipul Kuvad's  Response
hi, thanks for your queary
it is common to have swollen and sore limb after walking boot removal
blood vessels and nerve are rejenerating after trauma
so your tingling sensation may be due to regeneration of nerves.
i advise you to start with short brisk walk and then gradually move to running and jogging
i also advise you to wear sportshoes with ankle support
keep elevate your leg while sitting and sleeping.
if still problem persist then one should consult orthopedic surgeon for tarsal nerve compression
Wish you good health in 2013
