Suffered A Fracture On The Jaw. Metal Plates Put In Through Surgery. Numbness And Tingling On The Lower Lip. What Can I Do To Heal Faster?
Hi, I had jaw surgery two weeks ago after suffering a fracture in two place. I ve had four metal plates put in. The left of my chin and bottom lip is numb, but I have a really strong tingling sensation there, and would like to know if there is anything i can take to help reduce this feeling or to help my nerve heal quicker? Thanks in advance
Nerve damage could have occurred as a result of the fracture or due to the surgical procedure done to repair the injury.
There is medication that can be used to help reduce the sensations that you are experiencing. You can try pain relief medication such as meloxicam, ibuprofen, diclofenac or celebrex.
In addition the anti convulsants or anti seizure medications are highly effective in treating this type of discomfort.
You may want to consider speaking to your doctor to find out your best option and what is available in your area.
I hope this helps
