Suffered MRSA Infection After A Cyst Removal. Need Antibiotics?

After removal of a large head cyst, I got a MRSA infection due to a stitch that got infected. Shouldn't the doctor have prescribed an antibiotic right after the surgery to prevent any infection?

Shouldn't the doctor have prescribed an antibiotic right after the surgery? Only after the MRSA infection, did they prescribe a strong antibiotic.

Hi,
Welcome to HCM
After surgery, every patient is kept on prophylactic antibiotics, which may not be against MRSA always. Anti MRSA antibiotics are prescribed only if an infection due to MRSA is strongly suspected or after confirmatory laboratory evidence.

Thanks for asking .
