Hi
From your description it is clear that your brother has been on a combination of antidepressants and benzodiazepines for quite some time.
To answer your query about safety of medications..yes it is safe in that side effects such as those of daxid and nexito are usually mild and not a cause of concern.
But as regards your brother's condition i feel there is a need to review both his diagnosis as well as medication history as it is evident that his improvement is neither consistent nor satisfactory.I suggest this because a pure depressive disorder usually resolves in about 6 -8 months time with proper dose of antidepressants. It is imperative to check whether his diagnosis is only that of depression or something more as raised by your concerns of aggression. It would also be important to review the need for non pharmacological methods such as cognitive behavior therapy for your brother.

I can reassure you that medications for mental health conditions are safe when taken under proper expert care and conditions such as depression usually do not warrant long term treatment.
Hope this helps
Thank you & Good luck!
