Suffer From Anxiety, Taking Hormone Supplements, Fluoxetine. Getting Weird Dreams. Should I Be Worried?

I suffer from anxiety from time to time. I am in my 50's, taking hormone supplements, taking 10 mg of fluoxetine, having major anxiety from driving on freeways and bridges. This started about when I was about 50 and I am now 59. I was a brave soul before this. Now I have been having dreams where I wake up with my heart racing like I am going to die...the dreams are stupid..... I cant find something to wear, etc.....
should I worry about my heart?

Hi,

Welcome to Healthcare Magic!

I understand that you are finding the anxiety difficult to handle and are also worrying that something may be wrong with your heart.

I personally feel that if your electrocardiogram (ECG) has been done and found to be normal, then it is quite unlikely that your symptoms are due to heart disease. Secondly, the dose of fluoxetine that you are taking is less than the minimum recommended dose of 20 mgs per day for adults. In my experience, symptoms like yours respond very well to adequate dosages of medications like fluoxetine. So, please discuss with your doctor regarding a hike in dosage of fluoxetine.

Hope this helps. Please feel free to contact us if there are any further queries.

Best wishes.

Hi, it appears to be happened after viewing an accedent, on the bridge, or some where else. Any how you got the diagnosis, but you are not trying to come out of those thoughts.
You inform your doctor about the problem you are facing, you get the dose modified, or drug is changed.
I advise you to practice yoga, meditation, reading books of your interest, and hearing music. Thank you.

Hello. You must not be worried about your heart.Increased heart rate and palpitations are manifestations of anxiety that you have.Anxiety is very common in menopause.Do not worry, with right medication treatment you will improve. It is necessary to add a anxiolytic drug and take a antidepressant different of fluoxetine, which is not the most appropriate when the patient has anxiety.I treat my patients with Paroxetine 20 mg per day+Lorazepam 1mg thrice a day when Anxiety is the diagnosis. Please consult your local doctor for a prescription.I wish you good health.
