Sudden Growth In Left Nostril, Suffer Headaches, Advised Biopsy And Colposcopy. Are They Related Issues ?

Hi.
I am a 64 year old woman who has a normal CBC and Metabolic Panel and third test also normal, with a sudden appearance of a growth or tumor in my left nostril, mostly completely obstructing breathing on that side. I was given 60mg of prednisone for two days, but am responding with headaches the first day at the end of the day, after eating my last meal, the second day after eating my noon meal. These headaches remind me of when I tried Black Cohosh- a hormonal headache,I think having to do with estrogen imbalance. I tried Black Cohosh in the past because of minor hot flashes. I changed my diet to exclude wheat and most dairy and the hot flashes disappeared then. That was about 4 years ago.
I have had abnormal PAP tests for many years.
The a PAP test before ,about a year ago, this showed squamous epithilial cells with a high likelihood of invasion.
I am now being advised to have biopsies on my nose growth and a colposcopy.
Do I risk metastisis from these biopsies if it is cancerous? Do you think they are related issues/
I also have had a pap test a few weeks ago they have labeled it CIN 2 or 3.
I feel well, am working full time, and have a fairly stress free life with no debt and I like my work.
Please advise.

Hi and thanks for using this panel for your health worries.
I a very sorry about what you are experiencing.
It is a very difficult topic to approach because most people get very nervous and anxious discussing about possible cancerous lesions.

These pap smear results are honestly worrisome and point to a cancerous process. I don't understand exactly why no active measures were taken when you were first diagnosed with abnormal cells on pap smear.

Biopsies of these lesions in no way increase the chances of having mestastasizes beyond the risk associated to having the cancer. It will however help in making a more precise diagnosis and staging of the lesions.

Recent studies have shown that most cancers of the ear, nose and throat test positive for the same HPV viruses that are mostly implicated in cervical cancers. This is why an association of possible both cancer types will not be too surprising.

Please, feeling relatively well is very normal in the early stages of cancers. This should in no way make you to feel comfortable and not pursue appropriate treatment options. Please, work closely with your doctor to get these worries addressed appropriately.

Wish you a good health. Feel free to return to us with more queries.
