If you have had regular menstrual cycles all the while, pregnancy is unlikely even if you are sexually active; chemical pregnancy is the only exception. If you have been feeling discomfort throughout the month subsequent to the painful cycle, you definitely need medical attention and further investigation. Please get an estimation of the serum beta-hCG titres and see a specialist for further evaluation. You may need a trans-vaginal/pelvic sonogram also. There is no need to worry about a clinical check up, it is going to be easy. Hope this helps.
