Stomach Cramps And Bowel Movement Relieved Pain. Why Fever?

My 6 year old started with a stomach ache on saturday. Off and on...waking up to it. Once she has a bowel movement she is relieved some. Her stool is loose. She developed a fever possibly that evening before bed and sure enough checked it in the a.m. and her fever was about 103. by monday afternoon the fever had subsided but is now back today on tuesday. Again had loose bowels and complained of tummy ache...she ate rice and yogurt for dinner which seemed to keep her complaints about her tummy quiet. Should I take her in to see a doctor?

Dear customer,

The symptoms with which the child is suffering may be due to gastroenteritis.The fever and loose stools may occur in acute gastroenteritis.

You should give her adequate fluid and water intake to prevent dehydration.The fever and pain should be controlled by drugs like motrin, advil etc.The cold sponging may be needed as well.

The oral antibiotics may be required to treat the bacterial infection causing such infection.The drugs used are septran, amoxycillin etc.

You should consult the paediatric doctor for the prescription drugs.
