Stinging and burning sensation in chest. What is cause and treatment?

I have had a bad stinging and burning feeling twice today in the center of my chest on my breast bone. First time I was squeezing the spray nozzle on the water hose and bent over unclogging leaves in a drain under my driveway. Almost took my breath away. Them in the shower while shaving my legs. I'm not working n have no insurance. My 27 yr old daughter just passed away 3-10-12 from her year long battle with TNBC. I left my job to care for her and two grandchildren. Should I go to the ER? Or simply follow up with my dr ?

Hello Sheilavester,

Thanks for posting your query,

From your description I can give two impressions. The first is that you are having an angina attack (coronary artery diseases) which could be treated with specific medications such as nitroglycerine and pain medicines and the second possibility that you are having a peptic ulcer diseases or gastritis or stress ulcer (after the loss of your daughter). If that is the case, you will require antiacid medication to relief you from symptom and for treatment/healing of the ulcer, you will require protein pump inhibitors (such as omeprazole) and/or h2 blockers (cimetidine or ranitidine).
Another possibility of your problem is anxiety attack.
I suggest you you follow-up with your doctor as in either case are situations that he can handle.

Hope this helps
