Stiff and painful knee, grinding kneecap. No injury

Hello, the last few months my knee has been stiff and hurting. Sometimes it feels like something is grinding inside my kneecap. It s like growing pains in that I can t exactly explain it, but I m 27 and haven t grown in quite some time. I ve started running, but that doesn t help. Massages feel good, but don t fix it. The knee turns super red in the shower. It feels slightly better when I m standing or laying down. I have started moving around more at work but no change! There hasn t been an injury, but I m a drummer and I notice that it hurts more after I play.

Hi welcome to HCM.
It looks looks loke some sort of infective process is going aroung your knee joint,as there is no history of trauma. It will be better you consult a good orthopedician and go for MRI knee. It will solve all query, as it is the best diagnostic modality for knee joint.
Thanking you.
