Stepped On A Nail. Should She Get A Tetanus Shot?

my 17 year old daughter stepped on a nail in someone s yard, should she get a tetanus shot? Her immunizations are up to date, but I need to check with her pediatrician in 9 hours when the office opens to find out the date of her last tetanus shot. Can she wait 9 hours? She just told me she stepped on a nail around 4 p.m. EST.

ENT Specialist 's  Response
Hello!

considering her age if you have given her DT boster dose in the past 5yrs or she has taken TT for any other reason in 5yrs there is nothing to worry. If not it better to give her the TT inj immediately, giving after several hours makes no difference.

I hope you found my response to be helpful and informative. If you have any additional concerns I would be happy to address them.

Regards
Dr Divya
