Stage 4 Lung Cancer, Bone And Lymph Areas Infected, What Is Spackling?

my sister was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer in January with intense involvement in the bone and lymph areas. She was told today that after 6 chemo treatments and 14 radiation treatments that the spackling in her lungs has slightly improved but there has been no change in the large tumors in the lungs. What is spackling?

Hi,
Thanks for writing in.
As such, speckled means something which is patchy or has a large number of spots. When this characteristic is seen in masses in the lung, it is suggestive of cancer.
In contrast, non malignant tumours have a smooth appearance.
Hope this helps.
Regards
