Sprained My Ankle. But The Bruise Has Gotten Worse It Is Yellow And Blue. Treatment ?
i sprained my ankle about 10 days ago from a softball hit directly to the foot. i got x-rays and was told that it was a sprain and that i could play softball again on Monday. the swelling has went down but the bruise has gotten worse it is yellow and blue. i can walk on it and i can run on it but i hurts slightly. so can i play softball tomorrow or could that make it worse?
A cold compress such as an icepack or a bag of frozen peas should be applied to the affected area for 20-30 minutes in order to speed healing and reduce swelling by constricting the underlying blood vessels in response to the cold. Do not apply ice directly to the skin. Wrap the icepack in a towel.
After about 48 hours, heat in the form of a warm washcloth applied to the bruise for 10 minutes or so two or three times a day may increase blood flow to the bruised area, allowing the skin to reabsorb the blood more quickly. Ultimately, the bruise will fade in color.
Tab.Ibuprofen will help in reducing inflammatory process.
Give Rest to foot avoid games for another one week for complete speedy recovery..
