Spots On Ingrowth On Skin On Legs, Burning And Tingling. What Are The Dark Patches?

Hi

I recently visited a derm for treatment for spots of skin on the legs due to ingrowns. I was given an anti-pigmentation cream but after using it for a while my skin started burning and tingling everywhere it was used. So i stopped using it midway but now i have dark patches all over my legs. Please suggest what should be done to remedy the same

Hi,
Thanks for writing to us.
It seems you developed contact irritant dermatitis to the prescribed anti pigmentation cream. Your doctor can't be blamed for the same as many a times we are not aware whether a particular medicine would suit our patient or not. It can also occur due to excessive and over zealous application of the cream. It was a wise decision that you stopped its use. If the burning or tingling is still there use a corticosteroid cream to soothe the area. Also contact your dermatologist so that your skin can properly be assessed and appropriate treatment be suggested. Once the irritant dermatitis phase is over either the same cream can be reintroduced under your doctor's guidance or a milder cream can be suggested.
Hope that helped.
