Spermatocele Getting Larger Than Testicle Can Cause Increased PSA?

I am a 60-year old male with a family history of prostate cancer. My PSA has been in the low 2's for years, once spiked a few years ago to 3.5, then came back down (possible infection?). Last year PSA was 2.44, a few days ago was at 5.55. Going to see urologist next week.

My question: I have had a spermatocele for several years that has gotten larger, now about 1 1/2 times the size of my testicles. Sometimes a bit painful, but not too bad. Could the enlarged/enlarging spermatocele be causing my increased PSA? Before I have a biopsy done, should I have the spermatocele removed and see if my PSA goes down? Thanks.

Hi,

Spermatocele does not cause increase in PSA level. As your spermatocele is increasing in size, it is best to get it removed by surgery (spermatocelectomy).
For increased PSA level and history of prostate cancer in family, you get a biopsy done to rule out any malignancy.
