Hi and thanks for the query,
You can take paracetamol for the pain after checking the dosage.
Do warm salt water gargling 4 times daily and steam inhalation 4 times daily.
Avoid cold foods and air conditioning.
Get plenty of rest and eat well.
If you do not feel better in 2 more days then you may need an antibiotic and a cough suppressant, so you should see the doctor.
You may need a chest x Ray as well.
Regards,
Dr Kishori.

I have a cold, sore throat, massive mucous drainage, and a productive cough. My chest is tightening up, and I am occasionally wheezing. My temperature rose to 100 degrees F. over the past couple of hours. I am experiencing shaking, coughing, and a lessening of mucous production. As a child I experienced bouts of bronchitis with fever. I have nasal allergies, one of which is to tree pollen, also mold and dust. My worse allergy is to cats, but I have not been around cats at all. It has been many years since I felt the way I do now. About 35 years ago I had a prolonged exposure to a high level of cat dander, which eventually resulted in a bad attack of allergic bronchitis. I was diagnosed with asthma at that time, for the first time. I have not been treating asthma for many years, as there seemed to be no need to do so. However, I am experiencing significant wheezing with this cough. I am drinking fuids, resting in bed, coughing up whatever I can. I took some bendryl about 3 hours ago ,,which probably explains the reduced amount of mcous production, although it still is significant) and I took ibuprophen about 30 minutes ago. which probably explains the reducred amount of mucous production, although mucous is still significant. I am 75 years old, and I seldom have a coid, although I do experience chroniccaly a small amount of drainage.

I have been sick 6 weeks now. Started with a soar throat and then I was down and out in bed sick for about two weeks, just tired all the time coughing and coughing up phlegm, just felt tired and run down. My doctor swabbed me for pertussis/negative, I have been on 2 bouts of antibiotic, I have used muchinex, I have used cough syrup with codeine, I have used Tessalon pearls for the cough, she has prescribed me 3 different puffers, I have had my sputum tested twice/one is still pending, I have had 2 chest x-rays/both negative and yet I and still have violent bouts of coughing, and coughing up phlegm. Night time is the worse when I lay down. I have wheezing, you name it and yet no one has a answer for me. They say it s allergy related. don t know how it s allergy related when it has been a continuation of 6 weeks.??? do you have any suggestions

Have what appears to be a reoccuring URI - every 2-4 weeks I start with Fatigue, cold sores, sore throat, wheezing, coughing, hoarsness/laryngitis-it runs it course then comes back all with the same symptoms in about 2-4 weeks. Sometimes it gets severe and my PCP prescribes a prednisone burst, and antibiotics-none of which help. I do not have asthma, COPD, etc.. However I have a floppy trachea. I am losing quality of life, work, wages, and patience seems this has gone on since Oct of 2007 to current. I thank you in advance for your time and consideration
