Hi.
Thanks for asking in Healthcare Magic.
Spasmoproxyvon contains
Paracetamol,
Dicyclomine and Propoxyphene. Of the three drugs, Propoxyphene is an
opioid analgesic and has addictive potential. When used for a long period it results in 'tolerance' and 'cumulative toxicity'.
Tolerance means necessity for more dose to get the required therapeutic benefit. So, the person takes more tablets resulting in cumulative toxicity (the drug accumulates in the body and results in adverse effects). Also being a opioid it can result in respiratory
depression and cardiac toxicity. You appear to have developed both psychological and physical dependence for it.
If stopped suddenly, like any other opioid, Propoxyphene can also result in withdrawal effects and that's why you are unable to stop it. So reduce the dose gradually in such a manner that your body systems are not affected by the withdrawal.
Right now you are taking 9 tablets per day. Make it in to 8 tablets (3+2+3) per day for a week. Then reduce it in to 7 (2+2+3) per day the next week, then 6, the following week and so on. By the end of 8 weeks you can be completely off the drug. The initial reduction will be a little difficult but once your body gets adapted to the reduced dose, further reduction will be easier.
I hope this is useful to you.
