Sour taste in mouth, plaque behind front teeth. Causes for bad taste?

I have a sour taste in my mouth were everything very sweet taste sour or little bitter. I have had my ears and throat checked by my gp and all ok . My dentist has identified plaque behind my front teeth and recommends going to visit the hygenist for a couple of visits to have it all removed. Could this be the cause of this bad taste sensation?

hello and welcome to HCM,

Sour taste in the mouth is called PARAGUESIA, the reason for the same can be a multitude of causes. You may have to rule out the commoner ones and take general measures to get back the natural taste:
1. Get an ENT and not a GP consult for a proper examination of your throat and possibly an upper GI endoscopy may be warranted
2. Get a full blood profiling including tox screen to rule out any chronic abnormalities there
3. Get a neurologist to examine and maybe suggest a CT/MRI of the brain which may rarely cause such altered tastes

take care and avoid spicy, oily food, eat food on time and have a balanced hygienic diet with lots of green leafy vegetables
