Sore Throat, Swollen Tonsils, Difficult To Swallow. Suggestions?

Hello! I m 13 years old. I stayed home from school today because I m sick! I was wondering what of though. On sunday, I was feeling great! I was singing and moving and feeling good. On monday, I woke up with a sore throat . I didn t think much of it, so I didnt say anything. My dad noticed I was sick though, and said to call him or my mother at work if it got any worse. It did. Later in the day, I began experiencing headache&weakness. Do you ever get that feeling when you feel really weak and shakey? Thats exactly what it was like. I was also slightly dizzy. I texted my dad from my locker (shh, dont tell my principal, hehe) and he came to get me. Later that night, I couldn t get up without dealing with a booming headache. I laid on the couch all night, except to move to my bedroom, which was the longest walk ever. I have a low fever of 100.2 degrees Fahrenheit . Throughout the night I experienced chills, and then I became very sweaty, my mom told me that was my fever breaking. I awoke on tuesday to feel much better! I went downstairs and put on the tv. My parents called to check up on me and I told them I was doing fine. Later that day though, I progressively started to feel worse! It was almost as bad as monday, just no more aches in my legs. I did, although, experience cramping in my knee and shin. It was as if something was stabbing me from the inside out. Today, Wednesday, I feel MUCH MUCH better. EXCEPT, I woke up with the most terrible sensation in my throat! I was born with tonsils so big, that every doctor, or dentist I go to exclaims, wow! [coworker name] come here! You gotta see this! Its hard to tell if my tonsils are swollen or not because I dont really pay much attention to them. Anyways, my tonsils feel like they weigh 25 pounds, and are anchoring down my throat! It hurts super bad to swallow and talk, but not to eat. Infact, when I eat, it feels good because as the food goes down, it scratches my tonsils and relieves the itch . They have been hurting since Monday morning, and they are throbbing. It feels as though they could burst at any second. They hurt REALLY bad, like, i wanna cry. The throbbing, and tenderness is getting old. This doesnt feel like a regular sore throat, what could it be? I did some research and have come to believe its Tonsilitis, but my mom thinks its strep! What do you think? Also, I m starting to cough frequently. Thank you for your time! Sorry this is so long, I just thought it best to be thorough. This has been a rough week for me! ahah, any suggestions as to how to stop the pain would be apprectiated. Also, should I be seeing a doctor about this? Thanks again for your time! :) -Alexis

Hi dear,
IAm sorry about your illness ad how you suffer!
You have written a very nice and detailed summary of your health problems.
It definitely looks like tonsillitis / upper respiratory infection.
You should definitely go to the ER and get tested for strep throat.Strep infections can not be ignored due to various long term complications.
For pain you can take paracetamol tablet till you manage to see the doctor.
Get well soon
God bless
