HI,
The symptoms you have, suggests acute tonsillitis. It can be either bacterial or viral.
To exclude bacterial infection,a quick staphylococcal test is usually done. In case it is -ve a culture of throat swab is sometimes needed.
- Take rest.
- Take a combination of paracetamol-acetoaminophen for fever control &pain/swelling relief.Antibiotics are to be added with a doctors consultation.
-Hot saline gargles help
- Have a light, non spicy, non oily food. Avoid sour or cold things.
By this treatment ususally there is relief within 1 weeks time
Sometimes,a long standing, severe tonsillitis needs tosilectomy.
