Hi, i have a sore throat and my nose is blocked, my ears are also blocked. i have always breathed through my mouth but im now trying to breath through my nose. And since i have started trying a have a very thick dark yellow mucous coming out o my nose. When i wake up in the morning after a full night o breathing through my mouth im very dehydrated and on the roof of my mouth i have dryed up hick yellow mucous. What will help any of my symptoms ?
Hi and thanks for the query, For the blocked nose and blocked ears you can take decongestant nose drops like otrivin. Instill 3 drops in both the nostrils 3 times a day for 5 days. Read the instructions on the crimp to instill the drops. 10 minutes after instilling the drops do steam inhalation. For the sore throat you can take any over the counter pain killers. You may also require an antibiotic, so please see an ENT specialist for the prescription. Drink plenty of fluids, do warm salt water gargling 4 times daily and avoid cold foods and air conditioning. Regards, Dr Kishori.
