General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi there.

Thanks for writing in.

One possibility I can think of is acute rheuamtic fever which presents with sorethroat and subcutaneous nodules etc. This is usually seen following a streptococcal infection. I would advise you to take your son to a paediatrician as he needs a complete physical examination and certain blood tests like complete blood picture to look for leukocytosis, raised ESR or C reactive protein .

Any other history of joint pains, high grade fever, skin rash along with the current symptoms?

In the meantime, he should do warm saline gargles 3 times a day to get relief from sore throat. Drink plenty of warm fluids.

Hope this helps

Regards,
Dr. Divya Kuttikrishnan
