Sore Throat, Cough, Swollen Tonsil. Cure For Symptoms?

I have had an on going cough and slightly sore throat for about 2 months now. About a week ago I also had some type of stomach flu. With my throat still being a little sore I looked in the mirror today and noticed a red line on one of my tonsils that almost looks like a cut. The tonsil is obviously swollen compared to the other side of my throat. What should I do here considering all the symptoms are only minor?

Hello, thanks for the query to H.C.M.
Recurrent tonsillitis is a most common disease particularly during a season when plenty of pollen and mites are in the air, in which we take breath.
Usually acute tonsillitis responds very well to antibiotics and cures within 4-5 days.
When this tonsillitis associated with allergy it is very difficult to treat this condition because immunity decreases and allergens causes recurrent infection ( prone to infection)
So the best way for you is to take simultaneously treatment for allergy and infection.
The treatment period , you have to lengthen from ordinary 7-10 days period.
Please get in blood examination for C B C and E S R ( some say non-specific) .
If possible have a swab of tonsils and send for culture for best result but this is a job of a doctor.
Good luck. Dr. HET
