Sore Throat, Cold Sores On The Tongue. Diagnosed With Tonsillitis. Will Smoking Marijuana Affect The Healing Process?

I was diagnosed today was tonsillitis after experiencing about a week of symptoms: sore throat and seemingly invisible little cold sores on the tip of my tongue. Physically I feel fine, but I was wondering how smoking marijuana might affect my healing . I know that it s not good for you and that it certainly won t speed up the healing process, but are there any risks I should know about specifically regarding the pot in combination with the tonsillitis? Thanks.

Psychiatrist 's  Response
Hi there ~

I understand your concerns. Tonsillitis may be due to infection from using dirty marijuana and using unhygienic practices when you are having fun with being high on marijuana. I believe that the dependence on marijuana slows down you metabolism and thus your body's ability to fend off infection. I strongly suggest that you quit marijuana and if need be consult a psychiatrist who can suggest remedies and possibly rehab to get you back on the path of recovery.

I hope this helps. Take care and have a lovely day!
