Dear Concerned.,
Thanks for writing to us.
The condition that your son has sore burning eyes and phophobia indicates that he has developed Conjuntival Irritaion due to (1)Infection of conjunctiva as more people use the pool at the same time for classes. There are chances of conjunctivitis.(2)They would have used chlorine releasing chemicals such as bleaching powder to disinfect the pool repeatedly . The chemical also produces Chemical Conjuncivitis.
As a Precaution your son may wear protective eye wear during swimming.
In addition you may use antibiotic eye drops prophylactically, dark glasses to prevent photophobia, repated wash with normal water to wash of inflammatory secretions. An antihistaminic oral tablet would also reduce eyes irritation.
Wishing you a speedy recovery,
Best Regards,
Dr Lt Cdr ASN bhushan.
