Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
25 yr old female....I have a ( not sure if u call it a boil ) very hard very sore bump with a head on it on my inner thigh by where my buttocks is. I ve had them before but I usually get a needle and pop them then they go away but this one is so sore I can t even touch it. Is this a infection that I should get treated right away?
Hello.
Thanks for writing to us.
From your description it seems that you are having a recurrent folliculitis or a pilonidal sinus in the area. A direct examination is necessary for proper diagnosis. Since it is infected, you need systemic antibiotics to cover up the infection. Please get yourself examined by a surgeon for proper treatment.
I hope this information has been both informative and helpful for you.
