Sore Around Clitoris, Slightly Itchy, Burns While Urinating. UTI Tested Positive. What To Do ?

Hey. I have been very sore around my clitoris. Also its been slightly itchy and very sore, it hurts to sit down. It burns really bad to urinate and my urine is a really bright yellow which is very abnormal for me. I took a UTI test and it tested positive for leukocytes but negative for nitrite. This has been going on for a couple days now. What do you think this is?

Hello Kari,

The symptoms as mentioned in your post suggest that you might be having Urinary Tract Infection.
Though Nitrite is negative, presence of leukocytes in the urine indicates undergoing infection/inflammatory process.

The treatment involves:
1. Drinking lots of water (it dilutes the urine & reduces the burning sensation)
2. Antibiotics depending upon culture & sensitivity reports.
3. If there is associated fever, then paracetamol 500 mg three times in a day can be added.

Sometimes, UTI may persist due to inappropriate dosage of medications & inadequate duration of treatment.
So, it will be better to consult an Urologist with the reports of your Urine analysis.

One more thing...avoid acidic foods, carbonated drinks and alcohol...& maintain good hygiene.
There is no need to worry...you will be fine.
Wishing you a speedy recovery.
Thanks & take care.
