Sometimes my heart even when lying down will become very erratic. What i can do?

I am 23 and I have had heart palpitations here and there for years.... sometimes my heart even when lying down will become very erratic and thud a dew times and have no rhythm whatsoever and other times my heart can not be heard no matter where you listen.... I have had an ecg and it was fine, however I had no problems with my heart that day....some days are fine and some are weird I get light headed as well, it seems to have nothing to do with me exercising because it happens at night too, and the beat can be so erratic it can make me feel very sick. I would like to know what to do. thank you.

General & Family Physician Dr. Pavan Kumar Gupta's  Response
Hello.Welcome.If a person is stressed and having perpetual anxiety he tends to feel his own heart beats which are termed as palpitations. If you have consulted your doctor and your ECG and heart is normal then I think you stop worrying about it and enjoy life.Good luck.

Cardiologist Dr. Naresh Ruparelia's  Response
Hi well come to HCM.
It seems you have palpitation which can be benign due to Anxiety, after exercise, fear.
etc.Excess tobaco or smokig can also cause palpitation.Other conditions like cardiac
arrhythmia also ca give rise to palpitations. You have doe your ECG which is normal,
but when there is intermittant arrhythmia,a single ecg can miss it.Better diagnostic
tool is Holters monitoring which will give 24 hrs record of your heart beats during your
normal activity. So take drug like Alprazolam to get rid of anxiety for few days and if
not relieved of symptoms get done Holters monitoring to finalis the things and if nothing specialised recorded in that leave the tension. thanks
