Soaking infected toe

Hello I recently had an infected toe from a cut - I visited a nurse yesterday who drained and soaked it, and gave me antibiotics just in case. She told me to soak it today. Can I use a weakly diluted antiseptic like Dettol for this? Matt

I have an infection in my second toe on my right foot. The toe itself from the knuckle to the tip is red/purple, inflamed, nerve pain is awful. What can I do and what is it. I have had this condition before, same toe same foot each time. They have prescribed me a course of cipro but have finished that and it didnt help at all. It seems to occur in colder months when I have to start wearing closed toe shoes. I have been soaking it in vinegar and water but that only seems to help while it s soaking. I am od-ing on ibuprophen to keep pain at an almost tolerable level, also is so painful I cant sleep. I do have an appointment next week but until then---Please help!!!!!

My son has a badly infected toe. We have been treating it by soaking it in Epsom Salts and using Silvadene cream as recommended by his doctor, but we re not seeing much improvement at all. This has been going on for at least three weeks. I am told that soaking it in a vinegar/water solution will help. Is this correct?
