What Must I Do About Extreme Tightness In The Left Calf Muscle Apart From Severe Pain After Running A Marathon?

So I ran my first full marathon yesterday and now I am extremely sore! It hurts to walk, go up and down stairs, pretty much do anything. I know this is normal but what isn’t is that my left calf muscle is so extremely tight that when I walk my heel feels like it physically cannot touch the ground. It can when I’m standing still but when I walk, it hurts too much to try and put my heel down so on my left leg I have to walk on my toes/the front part of my foot. Idk what to do, is this normal???? I tried stretching and it hurts way too much! What should I do???

Hello,

Your situation is related to straining physical activity in a body not fully trained. I recommend having some rest and taking ibuprofen coupled with magnesium 400mg daily to help improve your situation. You will improve in a couple of days. Physical activity and stretching is not recommended during these days.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Ilir Sharka, Cardiologist
