Small pimple on back. Itchy, turns into welt, forms a scab and goes away. Due to ingrown hair follicle?

Hello, I get a small blind pimple on my lower back, the size of a pin head. It is itchy and within two or three days, it turns into a welt, (sore and sometimes oozy), it develops a large scab and then eventually goes away. I get this from time to time. The only thing I can think of is an ingrown hair folicle. Can you elaborate?
